A Nature Trail begins from the east side of the village, passes through the beautiful and verdant hills of “Paliospora” and cuts the wooded mountain of “Faraklos” (“Karaflos” or “Falakros”, means “Bold”) in two, the visitor being able to scan over the flatlands and the villages of Morfou's plain, all the way down to the sea of Xeros and across to “Pentadaktylos” mountain and Cape Kormakitis. On a clear day one's eye is able to catch sight of the mountains of “Karamania” (Taurus and Anti-Taurus) of Turkey in the back. From this point on the visitor can easily climb up to the “Iero Vouno tou Dia” -Holy Mountain of Zeus or “Moutti tou Dhkia”(Peak of Zeus)- or to advance lower towards the Byzantine church of “Panagia Forviotissa” in Asinou, also reminding the age-old history of our land.
Similar Nature Trails are scheduled to be done soon so that the visitors can get to know the beauty that our beloved village can so generously offer.
The visitor, especially in February, can admire among other things the blooming almond trees. The landscape is enchanting -although seeing it yourself cannot be matched by any description –and if it happens that snow has fallen in the village, something which is not rare, one may end up wondering whether the “little brides” (the almond trees) that are climbing up the mountainsides and the hills up to the pine-forest, indeed mingling with the pines, have embellished their hair with flowers or snow!
